<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">Each year, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
funds Gates Cambridge Scholarship to pursue a full-time postgraduate
degree in any subject available at the University of Cambridge. Gates
Cambridge Scholarship covers the full cost of studying at Cambridge. It
also provides additional, discretionary funding.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">The aim of the Gates Cambridge Scholarship programme is to build a
global network of future leaders committed to improving the lives of
others.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">The Gates Cambridge Scholarship programme was established in October
2000 by a donation of US$210m from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
to the University of Cambridge; this is the largest ever single
donation to a UK university.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">At Cambridge, Scholars pursue the full range of subjects available at
the University and are spread through its departments and Colleges.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b>Course Level</b>: Gates Cambridge Scholarship is available to
pursue a full-time postgraduate degree (PhD, MSc or MLitt or one-year
postgraduate course) in any subject available at the University of
Cambridge.</span></span><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b>Study Subject (s)</b>: Gates Cambridge Scholarship is awarded to study any subject available at the University of Cambridge.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b>Scholarship Award</b>: A Gates Cambridge Scholarship covers the
full cost of studying at Cambridge. It also provides additional,
discretionary funding. The Gates Cambridge Scholarship is one of the
most generous international scholarships available. It covers the
following costs:</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="group-right" style="text-align: justify;">
<div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden">

<li><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">a maintenance allowance for a single student (£14,600 for 12 months

</ul>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>Discretionary components</strong></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">The Trust also considers applications for several types of additional funding on a discretionary basis:</span></span><br />
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">Academic development funding – from £500 to £1,500, dependent on the length of your course, to attend conferences and courses.</span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">Family allowance – up to £10,120 for a first child and up to £4,320
for a second child (2016-17 rate). No funding is provided for a partner.</span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">Fieldwork – you may apply to keep up to your normal maintenance allowance while on fieldwork as part of your PhD.</span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">Hardship funding – for unforeseen difficulties</span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">Maternity/Paternity funding – should you require it, you may apply
to intermit your studies for up to 6 months and continue to receive your
maintenance allowance during this time</span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">Some fourth year funding for PhD Scholars may be provided**</span></span></li>
</ul>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">*The University Composition Fee varies for different types of
students; applicants should see the Graduate Studies prospectus for full
details about precise amounts. Where a student from the European Union
has been successful in gaining a fees award from public authorities they
must accept this and the Trust will not pay these fees.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">** The PhD at Cambridge is a three-year degree and Gates Cambridge
Scholars should take on a research project that they and their
Supervisor think can be completed within three years. However, if there
are unforeseen circumstances which mean you need further funding during
all or part of your fourth year, the Trust will consider an application
on a discretionary basis. But you should not rely on receiving any
fourth year funding when you start your PhD.</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>Receiving a salary or substantial other scholarship?</strong></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">If you are receiving a salary from an employer or have another
substantial scholarship, the Trust reserves the right to reduce or not
pay the standard maintenance allowance. You should let the Trust know
ASAP if you are awarded any funding towards your degree at Cambridge.</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>What is not covered</strong></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">Most costs are covered by the Scholarship but Gates Cambridge does
not cover bench fees or the costs of scientific equipment or similar
academic resources. The Trust expects such core course costs to be
covered by the academic department at Cambridge.</span></span><br />

The African Humanities Program (AHP) seeks to reinvigorate the
humanities in Africa through fellowship competitions and related
activities in Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda. In
partnership with the Carnegie Corporation of New York,
which has generously provided funding, AHP offers African scholars an
integrated set of opportunities to develop individual capacities and to
promote formation of scholarly networks. The African Humanities Program
supports the Carnegie Corporation’s efforts to develop and retain
African academics at universities in Africa.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Goals of the African Humanities Program </b></div>
<ul style="text-align: justify;">
<li>to encourage and enable the production of new knowledge and new directions for research</li>
<li>to strengthen the capacity of early career researchers and faculty at African universities</li>
<li>to build the field of humanities by establishing networks for
scholarly communication across Africa and with Africanists worldwide.</li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Fellowship stipends allow recipients an academic year free from
teaching and other duties for completion of the PhD dissertation, for
revising the dissertation for publication, or for the first major
research project after the PhD. Fellows are also eligible for additional
benefits such as residential stays for writing, manuscript development
workshops, and publication support.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Each Fellow may request a residential stay at an African institute
for advanced study. Residencies have proved to be extremely popular and
productive, granting Fellows time and space to concentrate on writing.
Because residencies must be taken at an institute outside the home
country, they foster international communication. Currently AHP Fellows
may take residencies at six institutes from South Africa to Senegal,
Ghana to Tanzania.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Fellows are invited to submit their manuscripts to the AHP Publications series, a collaboration with UNISA Press
in Pretoria, South Africa. The rigorous development and peer-review
process of AHP Publications is overseen by series co-editors, Kwesi
Yankah, Central University College, Ghana, and Frederick Hendricks,
Rhodes University, South Africa.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Fellows may apply to attend a Manuscript-Development Workshop to
discuss their manuscripts with AHP mentors and other Fellows in a
weeklong, intensive retreat. Many authors use these discussions to guide
their final revisions before submitting manuscripts for publication.</div>

<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: small;">The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung
invites progressive young leaders between 25 and 35 years to apply for
the first edition of the Eastern European Academy for Social Democracy,
which will take place from 20th till 27th of November 2016 in Germany (Berlin, Schwerin). </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: small;"></span></span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: inherit;"> <span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: small;"> </span><span style="font-size: small;"><b><span lang="EN-US">Goals of the programme:</span></b></span></span> </div>
<ul style="text-align: justify;">
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: small;">The
Academy is primarily aimed at around 25 candidates who are committed to
social democratic values, and who are interested in strengthening the
political dialogue between their nations and the bilateral relations of
their home countries with Germany and the European Union.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<ul style="text-align: justify;">
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: small;">Besides
promoting peaceful dialogue, mutual understanding and the exchange of
social democratic policies the academy offers participatory workshops on
practical key competences and soft skills.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<ul style="text-align: justify;">
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: small;">Furthermore, the </span><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size: small;">programme</span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: small;">
will provide a deep insight into the political situation of the
respective host country and high level discussions with politicians and
civil society experts.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<ul style="text-align: justify;">
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: small;">As
an expected outcome the Academy wants to create a growing, sustainable
network of Eastern European future leaders who are willing to facilitate
dialogue orientated processes in connecting young, committed, and
progressive people who are open to find new ideas on how to cooperate
within Europe.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<div class="bodytext" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b><span lang="EN-US">Programme overview</span></b>:</span></span></div>
<ul style="text-align: justify;">
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: small;">In
future, the academy will take place four times per year in different
countries of the region with changing topics and workshops. In the first
meeting in Germany in November this year the programme will contain
planning know-how in the skills part and principles of a social and
democratic foreign policy on the knowledge part. Furthermore,
participants can expect meetings with politicians, journalists that are
specialized on Eastern Europe and other political actors on both the
national and the regional layer in Germany.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<ul style="text-align: justify;">
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: small;">Most
probably in 2017 the programme will take place in Moldova, Ukraine and
Georgia. Intended topics are: socio-economic principles, energy and
sustainability, and social justice (knowledge); conflict resolution and
negotiations, media training, and convincing with arguments (skills).</span></span></li>
</ul>
<ul style="text-align: justify;">
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: small;">Participants
of the first edition are welcome to apply for future editions as well.
The sustainable work with alumni as well as the creation of a strong
progressive network within the project region will play a significant
role and require a long-term commitment by the participants. That
includes willingness and competence in organizing political contact
programmes in your country on the national and regional layer – together
with the organizers of the programme.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<ul style="text-align: justify;">
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: small;">The overall working language is English. All costs related to the </span><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size: small;">programme</span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: small;"> will be covered by the organizers.</span></span></li>
</ul>

democracy: how to bridge the social divides? Strasbourg, 7-9 November 2016.</i><br />
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0cm; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0cm; text-align: justify;">
Education is
central to democratic societies. Schools, universities, civil society
organisations and other learning institutions should encourage the acquisition
and practice of values and skills which are essential for democracy.<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0cm; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0cm; text-align: justify;">
However, the
economic crisis and unemployment have lead many countries to focus education
mostly on preparing learners for the labour market. Education is instrumental
for community-building, social cohesion and a sense of belonging to society. In
today’s increasingly diverse, interdependent societies, the capacity to engage
across cultural and other differences and transcend a narrow understanding of a
national interest in order to address the common challenges for humanity, is
becoming crucial. Is it possible to build upon successful innovative
initiatives from across the world to strengthen the democratic mission of
education?<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"></span></div>

<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0cm; text-align: justify;">
The World Forum
for Democracy 2016 will focus on how education can help bridge the social
divide and become a real asset for our diverse democracies. The Forum will
analyse the impact of education systems on democracy and identify innovative
initiatives and practices which can make education (both formal and non-formal)
more democracy-centred, and critically assess their potential to trigger
systemic change. It will focus on the issue of how education can become better
at nurturing citizens as active members of society who engage in public space –
and how grassroots innovation can be enhanced to promote change in education
practice on a greater scale. The Forum will discuss not only what Education can
do for Democracy but also what Democracy can do for Education.<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"></span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0cm; text-align: justify;">
The World Forum
for Democracy is a platform for dialogue and innovation dedicated to democracy
which promotes the Council of Europe principles across the world. A unique
event of its kind, it deals with challenges facing democracy taking as a
starting point innovative initiatives and practice, and fostering debate
between different actors in order to find SOLUTIONS. The Forum highlights and
encourages democratic innovation to strengthen the foundations of democratic
societies. A democratic exercise in itself, the Forum aims at giving the people
– <span style="mso-bidi-font-style: italic;">demos</span> – their rightful place
in political decision-making. It thus contributes to the evolution of democracy
towards more participatory and inclusive structures and institutions. <span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"></span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0cm; text-align: justify;">
The labs are the
heart of the World Forum for Democracy. Their idea is to address specific
issues through the critical analysis of tested initiatives. The initiatives
will be presented in short speeches of ten minutes and critically assessed by
multidisciplinary panels and participants in the labs. Cartoonists will
illustrate the sessions live. The key conclusions and lessons learnt from the
labs will be discussed in a summing up session in order to prepare the overall
conclusions for the Forum. <span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"></span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0cm; text-align: justify;">
Interested
organisations/institutions worldwide are invited to express their interest in
presenting an example/initiative to make education more democracy-centred or to
revitalise democracy through education, by answering the questionnaire in the
appendix and sending it to <b><span style="mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">forum_democracy@coe.int</span>
</b>by <b><span style="mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">15 May 2016</span></b>. The World Forum
Task Force will select the most interesting and relevant proposals in June
2016. <span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"></span></div>

<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0cm; text-align: justify;">

founded as a non-profit organisation by Professor David Daiches in 1947.
In the spirit of the Edinburgh International Festival, SUISS brings
together students and academics who, irrespective of their national,
religious, or cultural difference, share a love of literature.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">SUISS is affiliated with seven prestigious Scottish universities: The
University of Aberdeen, The University of Dundee, The University of
Edinburgh, The University of Glasgow, The Open University in Scotland,
The University of St Andrews and The University of Strathclyde.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<a name='more'></a><div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">Throughout its 66 years, SUISS has achieved a high academic standing
and has welcomed many distinguished literary scholars, critics and
writers. Lecturers on the Text & Context course have included Robert
Crawford, Randall Stevenson and Patricia Waugh to name a few. We have
also welcomed many writers to contribute to our Creative Writing course,
names such as Neil Gaiman, AL Kennedy and Ian Rankin.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">Each summer, SUISS offers an intense, challenging and diverse
programme of study that takes place in July and August in Edinburgh, the
world’s first UNESCO City of Literature. We offer three courses in Text
and Context: British and Irish Literature from 1900 to the Present, one
course in Creative Writing, and one course in Contemporary British and
Irish Theatre and Performance. Our literature courses offer extensive
examination of Modernism, Scottish Literature and Contemporary
Literature, while our Creative Writing course allows students to develop
their personal writing portfolios. Our Theatre and Performance course,
which explores both theoretical and performative approaches to drama,
coincides with the Edinburgh Festivals and is delivered in partnership
with the Scottish Playwrights’ Studio.</span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">The Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (RSCAS) offers
one-year Jean Monnet Fellowships (renewable for one more year) to
scholars who have obtained their doctorate more than 5 years prior to
the start of the fellowship, i.e. 1 September 2016 for the academic year
2016/17. The Fellowship programme is open to post-docs, tenure track
academics and those wishing to spend their sabbatical at the Robert
Schuman Centre. We invite you to become part of a lively and creative
academic community. The Centre offers up to 20 Fellowships a year.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<a name='more'></a><div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">Jean Monnet Fellows are selected on the basis of a research proposal
and of their CV. The research proposal should fit well with one of the
Centre’s main research themes, programmes and projects. The three main
research themes of the RSCAS are:</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<ul style="text-align: justify;">
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">Integration, Governance and Democracy;</span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">Regulating Markets and Governing Money; and</span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">21st Century World Politics and Europe.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">More information about the Centre’s research programmes and projects can be found on the RSCAS web site.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">Jean Monnet Fellows are based at the RSCAS and associated with one of
the Centre’s projects and programmes. They are expected to actively
participate in the academic life of the Centre and to contribute to the
activities of the project or programme they are associated with. They
can take part in the activities of the EUI postdoctoral programme and
are encouraged to collaborate with PhD students, other postdocs and EUI
academic staff. </span></span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">In the case a fellow arrives after the beginning of September or
leaves before the fellowship ends (i.e. before late July), the grant
will be accordingly reduced.</span></span></div>

<b><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">Grant</span></span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">The basic grant is € 2,500 per month. If the duration of the
fellowship is less than 12 months, no grant will be paid for the month
of August.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">Successful applicants benefiting from other grants or salaries must
disclose this to the EUI, as the amount of the fellowship will be fixed
at a lower rate (minimum € 1,250 per month) depending on the additional
income.</span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b>Background</b></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">The Legal
Professionals Programme is a new initiative aimed at bringing up to ten
court representatives and professionals from situation countries
(currently: Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Central African
Republic, Sudan, Kenya, Libya, Côte d’Ivoire and Mali) and countries
under preliminary examination (currently: Afghanistan, Colombia,
Nigeria, Georgia, Guinea, Honduras, Iraq, Ukraine and Palestine) who may
not have the financial means to otherwise participate in the Visiting
Professionals Programme. Participants in this programme will gain
first-hand experience from and knowledge of the ICC and its procedures.
This will allow participants to develop their legal skills and knowledge
of the Rome Statute system, and to subsequently impart lessons learned
and best practices to their home organisations. Witnessing the
functioning of the only permanent international criminal court will
enable participants to contribute to the development of national
capacities in their home countries to investigate and prosecute crimes
within the jurisdiction of the ICC.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b>Duties and Responsibilities</b></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">Duties and
responsibilities will greatly vary and will depend largely on the
organisational unit of the Court that the incumbent will be placed
within, and the operational needs in that unit. You may find more
information on the work of each of the organs of the Court by clicking
on this <a href="http://www.icc-cpi.int/en_menus/icc/structure%20of%20the%20court/Pages/structure%20of%20the%20court.aspx" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">link</a>.
The duties and responsibilities will also depend on the profiles and,
to the extent possible, expressed interests of the applicants
themselves. As such, the precise duties and responsibilities of each
incumbent will be determined by the relevant receiving organisational
unit and communicated to the selected candidates at the moment of making
an offer of the placement on the programme. </span></span></div>

one of the fundamental rules in modern European Union. However, not all
EU Member States score the best in media freedom watch and reports from
ONG or human rights watchdogs, and media and journalists' liberties are
an even more delicate issue in several EU neighbouring countries.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If these are topics that interest you, we invite you to apply to become one of the <strong>77 young journalists</strong>, aged between 18 and 30, reporting from the European Parliament in Brussels between October 20 and 22, 2015.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The European Youth Media Days 2015 (which are organised by the European Parliament in collaboration with the <a href="http://www.youthpress.org/" rel="nofollow">European Youth Press</a>
– Network of young media makers), will focus on Media Freedom in Europe
and beyond. The EYMD is one of the biggest events in Europe dedicated
to young journalists.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Participants will experience <strong>three days</strong> of media
workshops, political discussions, hands-on media production and
invaluable insights into the European Parliament and international media
milieu. They will interact with high-level European politicians,
professional journalists and experts and engage in intercultural
exchange through practical media production.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Over the course of the three-day workshop, each young journalist will
work to produce a report on the topic of the seminar through their
medium of choice - video, photo, radio, print, or multimedia.
Participants at print, multimedia and photo workshops, furthermore, will
have the chance to work in mixed groups and produce a 360° journalistic
content. This year’s edition brings one more innovation: three
participants will produce a short documentary movie about the whole
event. The EYMD are open to young journalists who are citizens or legal
residents of the EU Member States and neighbouring countries. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<strong><em>Costs – citizens or legal residents of the EU Members States</em></strong></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Participants’ travel costs (specific conditions apply, more
information will be given after you have been selected) will be
reimbursed by the European Parliament 1 to 2 weeks after the event, upon
submission of all necessary documents (forms for completion and
instructions will be sent by the European Parliament prior to the
event). The European Parliament will also pay <strong>up to 360 Euros</strong>
lump sum to working journalists (who need to provide a copy of their
valid press card or a letter of instruction from their editor stating
that they work as a paid journalist) <strong>or</strong> <strong>up to</strong> <strong>180 Euros</strong>
lump sum to journalism students or interns (who need to provide proof
(e.g. in the form of a letter) from their university or from the
organisation they are interning at) to cover accommodation, meals and
local transport. The lump sums will be paid at the same time as the
travel reimbursement, 1 to 2 weeks after the event.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Attention: for participants living in Brussels no lump sum or travel cost will be paid.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The young journalists chosen to participate will have to arrange
their own accommodation and travel and provide the necessary documents
to the European Parliament for reimbursement.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<strong><em>Costs – citizens or legal residents of the EU neighbouring countries </em></strong></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Participants’ travel costs (up to 250 Euros, specific conditions
apply, more information will be given after you have been selected) will
be reimbursed by the European Youth Press 2 weeks after the event, upon
submission of all necessary documents (reimbursement form will be sent
by the EYP prior to the event). The European Youth Press will also pay <strong>up to 250 Euros </strong>in
total to team members involved in the project to cover accommodation
and meals in Brussels. They need to provide originals of the
corresponding documents (receipts, invoices) and EYP reimbursement form.
The lump sums will be paid at the same time with the travel
reimbursement, 2 weeks after the event. Participants will have to
arrange their own travel. European Youth Press will assist with finding
the accommodation in Brussels. Team members are responsible to provide
the European Youth Press with all necessary documents requested for
reimbursement.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<strong><em>Application and deadline</em></strong></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The call is open to young journalists aged between 18 and 30 who are
citizens or legal residents of a EU Member State or neighbouring country
only. The event will be held in English, so a working level of the
language is required. <strong>Participants applying for the documentary workshop</strong>
need to demonstrate experience in documentary filmmaking or
video-reporting as well as to bring the camera and editing software (the
movie has to be finished until December 22, 2015).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Please use <a href="http://goo.gl/forms/y70jI87F20">this form</a> to
submit your application, including the links to two media samples (of
any type; media samples that are not in English should have an English
summary) by <strong>August 16, 23:59 CET</strong>.</div>

of students have already been involved with the Institute's programs.

law, journalism, and other idea-oriented fields. It is also a great
experience from a personal point of view, since for a week, students and
faculty members, coming from everywhere in the world, get to live

traditional Europe and Liberty seminar lasts 6 days from. The day is
divided into 3 sessions of lecture, discussion groups and discussions
with the speaker. Every session lasts 2 hours and is followed by a
coffee break, lunch or dinner. The week is an intensive week of lectures
and discussions. After each lecture the participants break into small
groups to probe and debate ideas they have just heard. A highlight of
the seminar are the evening discussion groups; guided by faculty
members, participants continue their exploration of the day's themes.
During the week, participants will have to interact constantly with each

participants for meals and evening discussion groups and socializing.</span> </span></span></span></div>
