Visegrad Scholarship Program 2017

Visegrad scholarships support Masters and post-Masters (PhD/postdoc) studies/research stays at higher-education institutions in the V4 region, as well as in the Western Balkan and Eastern Partnership countries. 

Visegrad Scholarship Program 2015-2016

The International Visegrad Fund offers Master’s and Post-Master’s schol­ar­ships awarded to selected schol­ars for peri­ods of 1 or 2 semes­ters (with the excep­tion of Master’s schol­ar­ships within the In-Coming scheme where 1– to 4-semester schol­ar­ships can be awarded).

In applying for a scholarship to the International Visegrad Fund, you can:

• Choose any aca­d­e­mic field;
• Study in any lan­guage (the lan­guage of instruc­tion is not limited);
• Choose a school of your choice, i.e., study at any accred­ited pub­lic or pri­vate uni­ver­sity or any insti­tute of sci­ence acad­e­mies in the Visegrad coun­tries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, or Slovakia);
• Study or con­duct research at Masters (MA) or Post-Masters (PhD/postdoc) levels;
• Apply at any age—there is no age limit and one does not need to be a stu­dent when applying;
• Choose the length of study—between 1 to 4 semes­ters (depend­ing on the program).

Sri Lanka Government Scholarships 2014/15

Applications are invited from eligible students for the award of undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships offered by the Ministry of Higher Education, Sri Lanka under the Government of Sri Lanka Presidential Scholarships for Foreign Students for the academic year 2014/15 and the courses are to commence in December 2014. Since this is a government to government scholarship program, candidates should apply for this scholarship with the recommendation of the government scholarship nominating agency (Ministry / Institution) of the respective country.

Africa Scholarship Program at Alma Graduate University in Bologna

Alma Graduate School, together with the Foundation for World Wide Cooperation, introduces the Africa Scholarship Program for the Academic Year 2014-2015. This Scholarship Program aims to facilitate the participation of 10 young bright talents from Africa, wishing to pursue an MBA and contribute to the social and economic development of their continent.

Candidates need to be citizens of an African Country, hold an undergraduate degree, be proficient in English and have 2 years of professional experience. Beneficiaries will be asked to sign a letter of understanding about the importance of repatriation and contribution to economic and social development of Africa. 

Scholarships of the Government of Slovak Republic

The provision of scholarships of the Government of the Slovak Republic is a long-term component of development assistance by the SR, which is a programme and project activity of the SR Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the framework of the international community. The provision of scholarships of the SR Government in the framework of conditions set out by the OECD for realization of ODA includes also scholarships of the SR Government for Slovak nationals living abroad.

The Slovak Republic Ministry of Education, Science, Research & Sport shall provide a foreigner an SR Government scholarship during the standard length of studies as a student of a public university in the SR as follows:

The Emile-Boutmy Scholarship

Sciences Po created the Emile Boutmy scholarship after the founder of Sciences Po (1871) in order to welcome the very best international students from outside of the European Union. The Emile Boutmy Scholarship is awarded to top students whose profiles match the admissions priorities of Sciences Po and individual course requirements. 

Eligibility Requirements

Eligible students are those, first time applicants, from a non-European Union state, whose household does not file taxes within the European Union, and who have been admitted to the Undergraduate or Master's programme.

University of the People Scholarships

University of the People (UoPeople) is the world’s first non-profit, tuition-free, accredited online academic institution dedicated to opening access to higher education globally for all qualified individuals, despite financial, geographic or societal constraints.

With its tuition-free online programs, University of the People is opening access to higher education for all those constrained, as well as building a scalable and replicable model capable of changing the very nature of higher education. The non-profit UoPeople has managed to succeed in cutting down almost the entire cost of higher education, and does not charge for tuition or books/materials. All that is asked is for students to pay a one-time application processing fee ($50) and subsequent modest examination processing fees ($100) levied per course. There are no other fees whatsoever.

For students unable to pay the Exam Processing Fees, UoPeople works extremely hard to ensure that no student of UoPeople is left out of higher education for financial reasons. Students are invited to apply for scholarships after being admitted to the university and completing a scholarship application form. UoPeople remains committed to its mission of democratizing higher education.

University of Groningen Talent Grant

The Eric Bleumink Fund awards scholarships to talented students and young researchers from developing countries. Such scholarships enable them to further develop as individuals and to make important contributions to the development of their own countries. Since 2000, the year the fund was started, the EBF has handed out over 40 scholarships. This means more than 40 young, ambitious and very talented people were able to follow an additional study at the University of Groningen. Here they were introduced to an academic culture, libraries and  international contacts they are often lacking in their homeland.

The grant is awarded for a 1 year or 2 years Master’s degree programme at the University of Groningen. The grant covers tuition fee, costs of international travel, subsistence, books, and health insurance. Please note that a considerable number of students apply for this scholarship each year, whereas the University can issue only a limited number of grants.

Quota Scheme Scholarships

The Norwegian government provides scholarships for students from developing countries and countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia through the Quota Scheme. The objective of the scheme is to promote the internationalisation of higher education. Currently, the scheme provides full scholarships for a total of 1 100 students, of which 800 are from developing countries and 300 from Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Each year universities and university colleges in Norway are allocated a certain number of quota students. The scheme normally includes courses taught in English at Master’s and PhD level, in addition to certain professional degrees. 

Mawista Scholarships for Extraordinary Personalities 2013/2014

MA Programme in Human Rights and Democratization

The Regional Master’s Programme in Human Rights and Democratization is a two-year interdisciplinary programme established with the financial support of the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) in 2010.  The programme is one of 6 Regional Master’s Programmes in Human Rights and Democratization worldwide, established with the financial support of the European Commission.

This unique programme is offered by four leading universities in Eastern Partnership Region: Yerevan State University (coordinator), Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Belarusian State University, University of European Political and Economic Studies (USPEE) in Moldova and in cooperation with the European Interuniversity Center (Venice).

Master of Arts in Human Rights and Conflict Management

The Master of Arts in Human Rights and Conflict Management at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna (Pisa, Italy) is designed to provide students from different cultures and backgrounds with a deep understanding of the linkages between human rights and conflict management theory and practice. The curriculum, strongly field oriented, prepares participants for working with NGOs, governments, aid agencies, the UN system and regional organisations, also operating in the context of complex emergencies and joint operations.

The Programme is divided into two didactic modules, running between mid January and the end of July 2014, followed by an internship or field experience of min. 3 and max. 6 months, starting from August 2014, and a presentation of the students' final dissertation in spring 2015.

MA and PhD in Civilization Studies in Turkey

Full academic scholarships are available for applicants to PhD or MA in Civilization Studies programs at the Alliance of Civilizations Institute in Istanbul.

The Alliance of Civilizations Institute is a graduate school specializing in Civilization Studies, offering MA and PhD degrees. The instruction and research in the institute is characterized by a global perspective which finds its expression in the multidisciplinary and multi-lingual approach adopted by the Institute. Turkish, English, Arabic and Spanish are among the languages which are used in graduate education. Disciplinary perspectives from social and human sciences are employed while studying a particular civilization.

State Scholarships for Full-Time Master Studies in Lithuania

Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania takes pleasure in offering Lithuanian state scholarships for full-time Master degree studies in the academic year 2013-2014 for nationals of Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan, as well as for foreign citizens of the Lithuanian descent to study in Lithuanian higher education institutions:

1. A monthly scholarship and tuition-free studies is offered for the nationals of Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, and foreign citizens of Lithuanian descent (7 grants altogether);
   
2. A monthly scholarship is offered for the nationals of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan (6 grants altogether).
   

Master Scholarships for East-European Students in Sweden

This Swedish Institute program for highly-qualified East-European students aims to promote democratic, economic and social development through supporting know-how and transfer of knowledge to advanced students within areas in which Sweden is at the forefront of academic research. About 10 scholarships will be awarded for studies in Sweden, starting August 2013. The scholarship covers both living costs and tuition fees. 

American University in Bulgaria Program

Erasmus Mundus Partnership Scholarships

EMP-AIM is a Partnership of 17 Universities from European countries, Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova, which aims to build a structured and sustainable cooperation between the involved universities and thus to strengthen academic, cultural, economic collaboration between the European and Eastern Europe region countries. The project EMP-AIM is coordinated by Mykolas Romeris University (Lithuania). The Erasmus Mundus programme's overall aim is to promote European higher education, to help improve and enhance the career prospects of students and to promote intercultural understanding through cooperation with third countries, in accordance with EU external policy objectives in order to contribute to the sustainable development of third countries in the field of higher education.

Chevening Scholarships 2013/14

Applications for 2013/14 Chevening Scholarships are now open. Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. The programme makes awards to outstanding scholars with leadership potential from around the world to study postgraduate courses at universities in the UK.

The Chevening programme began in 1983 and has developed into a prestigious international scheme. Chevening Scholars come from over 116 countries worldwide (excluding the USA and the EU), and this year the Scholarships will support approximately 700 individuals. There are over 41,000 Chevening alumni around the world who together comprise an influential and highly regarded global network.

Danish Government Scholarships for Qualified Non-EU/EEA Students

The Danish Government welcomes highly qualified and motivated international students from all over the world to study in Denmark. A number of scholarships are therefore offered each year by the Danish Ministry of Education to fund students from countries outside the European Union/ European Economic Area. The scholarships can be awarded for a full degree programme or for part of a degree programme at undergraduate or postgraduate level. 

DAAD Master and PhD Scholarships 2013

Study scholarships are awarded to provide foreign graduates of all disciplines with opportunities to complete a postgraduate or Master’s degree course at a state (public) or state-recognized German higher education institution and to gain a degree in Germany (Master’s/Diplom).
 

Depending on the length of the chosen degree course or study project, the study scholarship will be awarded for between 10 and 24 months. Initially, scholarships are awarded for one academic year and can be extended for students with good study achievements to cover the full length of the chosen degree course.
