Barcelona GSE Master Scholarships in Economics and Finance

Barcelona Graduate School of Economics offers a range of competitive Master programs in Competition and Market Regulation; the Economics of Science and Innovation; International Trade, Finance, and Development; and Macroeconomic Policy and Financial Markets (awarded jointly by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra) and Master programs in Economics and in Finance (awarded by the Universitat Pompeu Fabra).  

There are four main criteria for admission: academic preparation, English language requirement, quantitative skills (GRE/GMAT), and letters of recommendation. The application process to the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics is conducted entirely online. 

Visby Scholarship for Summer Courses in Sweden

The Swedish Institute Visby Program funds annual summer courses on different topics for candidates from Belarus, Russia and Ukraine. The summer courses are open to three groups of applicants: students with at least three years of university studies,  upper secondary school teachers (under 35 years of age) and PhD students and younger university teachers (under 35 years of age). Applicants must be citizens of Belarus, Russia or Ukraine. 

These Summer University courses are funded by the Swedish Institute and thus, there is no course fee. The scholarship also includes lodging and food. There is also some contribution to the travel costs. 

European Forum Alpbach and Summer School Scholarships

Annual European Forum Alpbach will be held on August 19 - September 4, 2010 in the village of Alpbach in the heart of Austrian Alps under this-year general topic "Construction and Reality".

Every year since 1945, the European Forum Alpbach has been held in the Tyrolian mountain village of Alpbach. Speakers and participants from all parts of the world, from science, economics and politics, experienced experts and students, come together in Alpbach to discuss the current issues and to formulate interdisciplinary solutions. Participation is open to all those who are interested, and the events are carried out in the German or the English language.

World Youth Conference in Mexico

In the context of the International Year of Youth, Mexico invites you to participate in the World Youth Conference (WYC 2010) that will take place in Mexico City from August 23 to 27, 2010. 

The main objective of the WYC Mexico 2010 will be the creation of a declaration that represents the voice of the world's youth, concerning the main 11 subjects of the Conference: poverty and exclusion, employment, education, technology and innovation, health, gender equality, security, social justice and human rights, sustainable development, international migration, citizen's participation and incidence, and global cooperation.

Rotary Scholarship for Studies in Peace and Conflict Resolution

Rotary Peace Fellows are leaders promoting national and international cooperation, peace, and the successful resolution of conflict throughout their lives, in their careers, and through service activities. Fellows can earn either a master’s degree in international relations, public administration, sustainable development, peace studies, conflict resolution, or a related field, or a professional development certificate in peace and conflict resolution. 

Each year, up to 100 Rotary Peace Fellowships (50 master’s degree fellowships and 50 professional development certificate fellowships) are offered on a competitive basis at six Rotary Peace Centers, which operate in partnership with seven leading universities (centers offer master’s degree unless noted otherwise):

Edinburgh Global Master's Scholarships

The University of Edinburgh will offer 20 Master's scholarships for postgraduate study in any subject offered by the University for the 2010-2011 academic session. Each scholarship will have a value of £3,000 which will be tenable for one academic year. The scholarship will be awarded broadly on the basis of academic merit.

The scholarships will be awarded to students who are accepted for admission on a full-time basis for a postgraduate Master's programme of study at the University of Edinburgh from the following countries: Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Norway, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the USA, all African and Middle Eastern countries. 

Australian Leadership Awards Scholarships 2011

The Australian Leadership Awards (ALA) aim to develop leadership and build partnerships and linkages within the Asia-Pacific, while addressing priority development issues of the region. Applications for the 2011 intake open on 10 March 2010 and close on 30 June 2010. 

The ALA program comprises ALA Scholarships and ALA Fellowships. These awards are for leaders or those who have potential for leadership roles that can influence social and economic reform, both in their own countries and in the Asia-Pacific region.

ALA Scholarships are for study at Masters or Doctorate level in an Australian university. Study programs must relate to a priority development area: disability, economic growth, education, environment, food security, gender, governance, health, human rights, infrastructure, regional stability, rural development, water and sanitation. ALA scholars also undertake a Leadership Development Program in Australia.

International Caux Conferences 2010

Global independent organization "Initiatives of Changes", which works to promote peace, prevent conflicts, build trust and encourage intercultural dialogue, organizes a series of its annual international interdisciplinary conferences in July-August 2010 in Caux, Switzerland. 

Target audience: experts, practitioners and activists in the field of fundamental rights and intercultural dialogue, organisations on national, regional and local levels, teachers and education managers, students,  young adults and activists interested in or working on conference topics.

Helsinki Summer School 2010

Helsinki Summer School is a three-week academic event organised every August by the universities in the Helsinki area. Each year it gives students from over 60 countries an unforgettable experience that combines high quality academics with a wide range of cultural and social activities. Multidisciplinary courses, all of which are taught in English, aim at stimulating thought and intellectual development in an open and diverse environment. The courses are intended for advanced Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree and PhD students. Applicants should have completed at least two years of university studies. Helsinki Summer School is open to students from all over the world.

This summer Helsinki Summer School will be held on August 3-19 and will be offering 18 fully credited courses covering a wide range of academic fields - from Profitable Customer Manangement to Behavioural Sciences and Conceptual History to the Ecology and Management of Urban Green Space. The number of credits (ECTS) given varies depending on the scope of the course. Because of the demanding and intensive nature of our courses, students may be enrolled in only one course at a time.

Paying Attention: Digital Media Cultures and Generational Responsibility

Applications for the conference Paying Attention: Digital Media Cultures and Generational Responsibility are now open. The conference will be held on September 6-10, 2010 in Scandic Linköping Vast, Linköping, Sweden.

"Paying Attention" concerns the politics, ethics and aesthetics of the attention economy. This is the social and technical milieu in which web native generations live much of their lives. It will address key questions like: What architectures of power are at work in the attention economy ? How is it building new structures of experience? What kinds of value does this architecture produce? "Paying Attention" encourages dialogue between researchers from the fields of Cultural and New Media Studies, Education, Communications, Economics, Internet studies, Human Computer Interface Studies, Art and Design. It also seeks the input and insights of creative practitioners exploring critical and alternative uses of new media forms and technologies.
