University of Amsterdam invites applications from international students for the Bachelor's, Master's, Research Master's, Advanced Master's and PhD programs. University of Amsterdam is among the top 15 universities in Europe and the leading one in the Netherlands according to the Times QS World University Rankings 2009.
The programs are avaliable in the widest range of academic fields, such as business and economics, MBA, cultural and communication studies, law, linguistics and literature, journalism and media, social and exact science, etc. The UvA has one of the largest numbers of international study programmes of any university in Europe, with over 100 taught in English and several of the courses offered being unique to the UvA.

The UvA presently has more than 1,800 international students, from over 80 countries, all actively supported by the International Student Network while in Amsterdam. The UvA helps with logistics such as opening a bank account, applying for visas and finding accommodation.
Study programmes at the UvA offer a high level of autonomy. Respect for each individual's opinions and convictions are central in the Netherlands' diverse and plural society. This leads to an interactive teaching style encouraging students to develop self reliance and independent thought.
At the UvA, international students’ applications are processed by the faculties’ international or admissions offices. All international study programmes are fully taught in English, except for the Masters in the modern European languages German, Italian, French, Modern Greek, Romanian, Scandinavian, and Spanish, which are taught in the target language. For all international programmes except the Masters in modern European languages listed above, students who are non-native English speakers are required to have passed a test in English. Depending on the specific programme requirements, this test can be the TOEFL, IELTS, or Cambridge test. Some departments or programmes do not accept the TOEFL or other test scores. Always make sure to check the programme description carefully to find out which test you should take.

You can appply for various scholarships to cover your studies at the UvA, including the AMS and the HSP (see below). In addition to this, there is a range of other options:
